Social Disparity

Updated: Aug 18

The two most important elements in a child's development with an intellectual challenge and or physical disability is to find the perfect placement for their academic career and also a perfect social environment.

When an individual finishes school after age 21, it can be difficult socially to continue to keep up those skills. I know from personal experience from when I graduated.

I have searched thoroughly for the last four years to find activities and programs where I can continue to develop my own social skills. But sadly, I have come up empty. I felt so isolated.

I feel that there needs to be more research into developing these type of programs for individuals stepping into early adulthood who are trying to place themselves amongst society. I have realized that without these certain opportunities I have developed depression and I feel alone. I wouldn't want another to suffer as I have. There needs to be a study within adult programs to find a solution.
