My favorite Christmas traditions

I love this time a year when we decorate the tree while watching all of our favorite Christmas movies. We would drink hot chocolate with and without marshmallows and eat popcorn. This is what we do for all twenty-five days leading up to Christmas. These are our favorite movies to watch leading up to Christmas morning.

1. How The Grinch Stole Christmas

2. The Family Stone

3. Home Alone 1 & 2

4. A Christmas Story

5. The Best Man Holiday

6. The Christmas Prince Trilogy

7. Almost Christmas

8. This Christmas

9. The Holiday Calendar

10. This year 2019 Lifetime Christmas movies

When I was younger, I didn't want to go to bed on Christmas Eve. My mom, sister and I would be in the kitchen baking cookies for Santa. My sister would bring out the Christmas cookie plate and our special glass for Santa Claus and my mom would get the key. The key was left on our back door for Santa to come in and bring us gifts. My mom would tell me that Santa Claus knew who was naughty or nice. She said I was being naughty because I wouldn't go to bed. Meaning that I wouldn't drive my wheelchair in my room so she can put into bed when it was time. My mom said she was going to tell Santa Claus on me if I didn’t listen. Well, each night up until Christmas, I didn’t listen. My mom would scare me and tell me that if I didn’t go to bed when I was supposed to, Santa Claus would look into the window to see if I was actually sleeping. That scared the wits out of me for years.

Since I wasn’t able to walk to see what gifts were under the tree, my sister would look for both of us. Anything with our names on the wrapping or tags, she would poke a hole in the wrapping and take a peek. When Christmas came around, we already knew most of the items we were getting. We had to act surprised when we open the gifts. It took my mom a long time to figure it what we were both up to. Over the next couple of years, my mom started to not write our names on the gifts. She would use our initials but made it not visible for us to see it. That’s didn’t work either because my sister found our initials on the wrapping. Again, my mom caught on to whereas she doesn’t wrap gifts until the night before Christmas.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you all!

Love you all,

Rahway Girlz
